Public entities, such as school districts, need a variety of insurance products along with expert advice for keeping costs as low as possible. The Moundridge, Kan., school district trusts the expertise of Ag360 for protection. USD 423 was an Ag360 client when Chad Higgins became school superintendent in 2009.

“It feels like we’re doing business with friends rather than a big company,” Higgins said. “Accessibility is a key advantage – the office is down the street.”

Higgins said school districts are expensive to insure, with buildings and vehicles to cover, and pedestrians in traffic to protect. The district’s insurance needs include data protection, property, software and technology equipment, vehicles, and workers’ compensation.

Things are usually quiet in Moundridge, but occasionally a staff member has an injury or a school bus is damaged. “When something does happen, they take care of it,” Higgins said.

“We have enough to worry about,” said Higgins. “They take care of things, and we don’t have to deal with it.”

“They let us concentrate on our key focus – the students and employees.”

Answers drew Wray Ratzlaff to AG360, and trust is keeping him there. Co-owner with Ben Ratzlaff of Ratzlaff Bros. Construction Inc. and a family farm in McPherson, he said, “When I have questions, I feel like they take time to answer the questions and find the best option for me. There’s a trust there.”

Ratzlaff brought his insurance accounts to AG360 about a year ago because “I believe they’re a good company.”

Ratzlaff Brothers Construction puts up steel buildings, handles general construction, and offers concrete services. AG360 also insures the family farm. It produces corn, soybeans, wheat, and milo with a few cattle.

“I always felt like I matter to them as a person and a business,” Ratzlaff said. “I feel like they’re going to tell me what I need to hear, not always what I want to hear. Sometimes they tell me I don’t need to insure something, which saves on the premium.

“They have good principals and are very helpful, ethical, and professional.”
